Brathay
Lake District National Park, UK, 2020
Located on the Brathay estate on the edge of Lake Windermere, the building provides a multi-use space for recreation.
A courtyard plan arrangement contains an open plan living/ activity space, bedrooms and storage for water sports equipment.
The light weight timber framed construction creates a single storey with ground floor 'deck' in the tradition of Lakeland jetty construction, utilising immediately local trades and resources. The series of columns create minimal disruption to the natural landscape which passes below the building undisturbed.
