Moor Lane

Yorkshire, UK, 2011

This extension to a Yorkshire Farmhouse provides much needed open plan space for family living

An expressed oak frame with large areas of glazing opens up the house to the surrounding landscape and gardens.

The existing kitchen formed part of a traditional arrangement of small disconnected rooms and had limited outlook and natural light. The new extension transforms the kitchen to create a large open plan light filled communal area suitable for a range of uses, relaxation, entertaining, hosting intimate dining or larger gatherings.

As part of a single piece of joinery, the soft oak frame also forms a long window seat overlooking the garden, which can be used for various seating arrangements, for dining or entertaining.
